End of 2025 Update

‘Allo ‘Allo 2: The Camembert Caper

Allo Allo 2 Programme Cover

Back in June, ‘ALLO ‘ALLO 2, The Camembert Caper was our much anticipated sequel to the original stage performance we put on nine years earlier. Ben stepped up once again to direct, this time with his wife Claire, both reprising their roles as Rene Artois and Private Helga. Familiar characters were still trying to repatriate a pair of British airmen, with Rene, his wife Edith and their café waitresses, Mimi and Yvette, embroiled in yet another complicated and life-threatening scheme.

With General Von Klinkerhoffen demanding a fortune in francs to recompense for the loss of the infamous painting of ‘The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies’, this hilarious sequel ended up with forged notes and a bomb being hidden in identical Camembert Cheeses! What could possibly go wrong?

NODA declared that the Wraysbury Players had delivered the ‘slapstick humour and the enthusiastic farcical energy an audience expects from this much loved adaptation’.

THE BIG VILLAGE QUIZ 2025

It was indeed a close call on this year’s much-anticipated annual quiz. The ‘Arsonists’ were victorious with the Tennis 2 and Quiz Ewbank running closely behind in joint second. Hettie’s Heroes came in at fourth and only four points separated them all. We appreciated the packed hall of teams who entered for the fun as well as raising monies for a local charity.

In this respect, we raised a very welcome £400 for STITCH, a local group who meet regularly to sew much needed personal goods for girls across the world as well as quilts and bags for local charitable organisations. Benta was thrilled and said the money would be well spent!

IT’S PANTO SEASON…Oh, yes it is!

Pantomime rehearsals are well underway with an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, written by Tracy Rogers, and directed by a group of hugely talented younger Wraysbury Players – many looking to make a career in the media or entertainment industry.

Tim Buckeridge, Hieronymus Glover, Daisy, Ellie and Rose Wordham got together earlier in the year and pitched the idea of directing the next pantomime. This was met with enthusiasm by us all as we love nothing more than seeing our members progressing to new roles.

Look forward to seeing Alice journeying through Wonderland to meet the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, Tweedledum, Tweedledee as well as the King and Queen of Hearts to name but a few. We have a large, varied cast this year as well as a new Dame. This pantomime promises to entertain on many cheeky levels in true Wraysbury Players’ style. Purchasing tickets couldn’t be easier! Tickets go on sale November 1st and are available at wraysburyplayers.co.uk

OUR DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY & RECENT NODA AWARDS

2026 sees the Wraysbury Players celebrating their 60th year of am-dram presence in our village. Audrey Elliott, a founding member of The Players back in 1966, still remains an integral part of our society. She was recently in receipt of the well-deserved Sylivia Rawlings Lifetime Achievement Award from NODA.

We were also thrilled to collect two other awards from NODA in June, namely Best Production of a Drama with Secondary Cause of Death and Best Performance in a Pantomime for Steevan Glover in our recent Wizard of Oz.
